Mr. MHS Benefit Pageant Scheduled for Saturday, December 7

Join us for a great cause...The McDowell High School DECA Chapter and Student Council leadership class are hosting their fifth annual Mr. MHS Pageant on Saturday at East McDowell Middle School. Tickets are $12 and children 5 and under are free. Doors open at 6 p.m. on the evening of Dec. 7. This year’s theme is “Mr. MHS: Under Construction.”

Principal Edwin Spivey selected as 2019-2020 McDowell County Schools Principal of the Year

Edwin H. Spivey III, principal of McDowell High, has been selected by his colleagues as the 2019-2020 Principal of the Year for McDowell County Schools. Spivey was humbled at the news: “It is an honor to be selected as Principal of the Year by my fellow principals whom I admire and respect, and I am very proud to represent McDowell High and McDowell County Schools.” (Read More by clicking title)

Connect McDowell Initiative

A volunteer group of industry and community leaders is looking to connect all of McDowell through technology.

Nearly two-thirds of McDowell County’s population either has inadequate internet connections or have to balance usage with the fear of extra fees. Many simply have no internet access at all. The McDowell Broadband Action Team (McBAT) has a plan to make that dream of connectivity a reality. Click the title to access more info.

Career and College Promise Path Opens Opportunities for Students

Tuesday, October 29 during lunches and from 3PM-5:30PM in the MHS Commons, Jostens will be here to allow Seniors to order their graduation cap and gown and both Juniors and Seniors can order class rings.

Titan Students Participate in Nine High School Choral Festival

Recently, Fifteen of our Titan Chorus students took a trip to Lenoir Rhyne University for a one day choral festival. These students participated with eight other area high schools, as well as, the University's singers/instrumentalists. This was the first time most of our students had ever had an opportunity to sing with 200+ other singers!!

Join them on May 29 for their end of year concert @ 7:00PM in the MHS Chorus room! Congrats students on your accomplishment! We're #titanproud.

CTE Students Place in State SkillsUSA Competition

McDowell High School students were very successful at the Skills USA competition in Greensboro this week. Over 2,000 students were competing from NC high schools.
