Luanne Parks Graham teaches physical science, astronomy, and anatomy & physiology at McDowell High School in Marion, North Carolina. The 2018-19 school term will be her 30th year in teaching. Mrs. Graham began her career in 1988 at East McDowell Jr. High School, teaching 9th grade physical science. From there she moved to Summerville, SC and taught at Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston. She has been teaching at McDowell High School since 1999. Mrs. Graham graduated from McDowell High School in 1981. She holds a bachelor's degree in Naturalist/Evolutionary biology and Taxonomy with a minor in physical geography and landform analysis from Appalachian State University and a Master's of Education in curriculum and instruction from The Citadel.
Mrs. Graham has a son, Andrew, who lives in Cary, NC with his wife, Carolanne, and a daughter, Anna, who lives in Asheville, NC. She also has two stepchildren, David and Debbie (and son, Franklin), who both live in Kalispell, MT. She lives in the Ashford-North Cove area of McDowell county with her husband and two corgis, Franklin and Olive, and an introverted parakeet named Calcifer. She enjoys RVing, hiking, reading, and watching movies and Canadian, Australian, and British television.
