My name is Jessica Ferguson, and I teach English and AVID. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2004 with a B.S. in English, Secondary Education and from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with an M.A. in Liberal Studies in 2013. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent/Young Adult English Language Arts, and this is my fifteenth year at McDowell High School.

I have high expectations for my students and believe that every child can learn. I will do anything I can to help students achieve their goals and experience success in my classroom. I hope students will reciprocate by being active participants in class and by being willing to do the work needed to master the skills and content. I offer many opportunities to students who need extra help. I am usually here around 7 each morning and stay until at least 4 each afternoon. Struggling students can work with me during those times. I also check my email several times each evening. If a student is working on homework and has a question, he/she can email me for extra help.
