Hi, my name is Tim Hutchins. I am in my 27th year teaching in McDowell County.I have taught Carpentry,Construction,Drafting , Cabinetmaking and also served as the county summer JTPA / WIA director. I have also been the Head Wrestling coach for 21 years at MHS. I attended Montreat-Anderson Jr. College before transferring to Appalachian State University. While at ASU I obtained a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology and Education, with concentrations in Technical Drawing and Furniture Technology. I was also a Sergeant in the N.C. Army National Guard 2nd/120th Infantry. I served from 1984-1991.

In my classes, we not only learn basic woodworking skills and safety, but also guide students who are serious about pursuing cabinetmaking and construction as a career. For the past 10 years, i have also taken my most dedicated and talented cabinetmaking students to compete at the state and national levels in Skills USA.

Other than doing woodworking and coaching wrestling, i am an avid hiker ,hunter, backpacker and enjoy camping and traveling to national parks across the U.S. with my wife Mindy, son laydon and daughter Rachel. And of course ,hanging out with my 2 year old Boykin Spaniel ,Brody.
